Too much stuff, not enough time

OK. Well i would like to say what i do in a normal week. I have classes Monday-Thursday, work in the admissions office, complete most likely around 15 hours or more of home work, try and hit the gym as much as possible (obesity is a growing epidemic you know), and also participate in a young adult group at my Church while still attempting to get in enough sleep to be able to handle and iron deficiency. After all these tasks are complete, which by the way rarely happens, why in the world would i want to add one more responsibility to my plate. In fact that is the way i feel, like one of those crazy yet talented people who can spin all those plates on sticks without dropping any of them.
I tell you this because it is really getting on my nerves how everyone on a college campus wants you to get engaged and get involved. When i was in high school i was in every club they offered because everyone said it would help me get into a great school. Now that i am at Winthrop all my teachers preach about joining this club or that team or this association. How in the world does anyone get any sleep around here. Teenagers and young adults are supposed to get nine hours of sleep a night.
Now, after pressure from teachers and the fear of not being accepted for a good internship I am not sure whether i will just pass out from lack of sleep or be a failure for not "getting engaged" !
I do not think it is fair that internships look so heavily into what you do with your free time. My free time ( by the way it is slim to none these days) is MY FREE time. how is that so hard to understand. I think that teachers sometimes forget that we have about six other classes besides theirs and a life outside of school. We are young adults with responsibilities and although getting involved is fine and dandy, it would be nice to do it just to make friends and have fun and not for your future resume. If anyone has any comments please feel free to leave them.

Introduction

Hey everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself seeing as this is my first blog. My name is Blair. ( hence the B in the queen b) I am a sophomore in college at a really great university. I started this blog in response to my Media Writing class. " If you don't Blog, start!" - Dr. Timbs.

Ok, so some of the basics i need to explain is the reason for my blog name, queen b. I got the idea from the new hot show on the CW, Gossip Girl. I love the character on the show Blair Waldorf. And NO, it is not just because we share a name. She is extremely dynamic, smart, and pushy. Also, the title of my blog is called The Hive. The reason for this is because in my world, I am the queen b, and in this blog, i will tell you all about things in my world (aka my hive ).

Well i thought that my naming process was quite creative and i am looking forward to posting my next blog in a few days. I promise it will be about something a tad more interesting next time.

Love Love Love
